JIBC provides international training for recruits from the Railway Police College of China

Delegation receives a wide-ranging introduction to some of the latest best practices in law enforcement

Railway Police College Class 1 (September 2015)

Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) recently welcomed a delegation of recruits from the Railway Police College of China and provided them with a wide-ranging introduction to leading international practices in law enforcement.

This was the first international educational exchange from the Railway Police College, which trains law enforcement officers responsible for the safety and security of China’s growing railway network.

The 27-member delegation gained insights in a number of law enforcement and emergency management topics. Their education included lectures and discussions about international police cooperation and anti-terrorism; crisis negotiations; leadership and decision-making; incident command systems; community policing; economic crimes; crime scene investigations; railway collision investigations; and computer-based criminal investigations.

Their education was provided at the New Westminster Campus by instructors who are active and experienced law enforcement professionals from a number of Lower Mainland law enforcement agencies.

“The recruits from the Railway Police College were very pleased with the meaningful experience and applied education they received at JIBC,” said Ken Davies, Manager of International Programs in JIBC’s Office of International Affairs. “They valued the opportunity to ask questions and learn from all our experienced instructors. The representatives from the college are looking forward to providing more police recruits with the opportunity to come to JIBC to gain an international perspective in law enforcement.”
