Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) Refresher
The PCP Refresher course is designed to meet the licensing exam prerequisite requirements of the Emergency Medical Assistant Licensing Branch (EMALB) for graduates that completed an accredited PCP certificate/diploma program or the JIBC Search and Rescue (SAR) Technician QL5A Medical Training Program.
This stand-alone course is offered in a blended online and classroom format at the JIBC Chilliwack campus. During the four weeks facilitated online portion participation is required while learners review PCP program resources, complete quizzes, engage in group discussions and write assignments. Upon completion of the online section, learners are required to attend a five day face to face classroom session followed by two days of practical assessment.
During this instructor-led workshop, students review, practice, upgrade and are evaluated on PCP skills as learned in the PCP Program.
The PCP Refresher is listed as a pre-approved activity under JIBC-PCP Refresher Course and is worth 40 continuing education credits within the EMA Continuing Competence System.
The PCP Refresher is the recommended course for PCP graduates who did not participate in EMALB licensing evaluation process within 12 months from the date PCP certification was issued, were unsuccessful in EMALB licensing process, or whose PCP license is suspended or expired.
Upon completion of this course successful candidates looking to obtain licensure must apply to EMALB for examination.
Please note that this course does not guarantee success at licensure or IV endorsement.
