Scholarships, awards, and bursaries provided by donors specifically for current and prospective students of JIBC are listed below by category. Click the category which is relevant to your studies.

Each award, scholarship, and bursary has a specific set of criteria and deadlines. Make sure to read the terms carefully before completing the application or any of the supporting documention. Note that awards, scholarships, and bursaries are only available to applicants who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons.

BC Transmission Corporation Legacy Award 
Open to all students.

Credit Union Foundation BC Bursary  
Open to all students in good standing in a JIBC certificate, diploma or degree program.

Emergency Preparedness for Industry and Commerce Council (EPICC) Bursary 
Open to students enrolled or in good standing in the Emergency Management certificate (version 1.4 or later), or in the Emergency and Security Management diploma or degree program.

General Student Bursary
Eligible for and/or enrolled in a JIBC certificate, diploma or degree program worth a minimum of 10 credits or more.

Jack & Donna McGee Scholarship
Recognizes current JIBC students who have completed two semesters of a JIBC program and demonstrated academic excellence

Karen Baker-MacGrotty Award
For recent graduates of New Westminster Secondary intending to enroll, or enrolled, in a JIBC program of 10 credits or more.

Todd Owen Memorial Bursary
O
pen to all students in good standing in a JIBC certificate, diploma or degree program of 10 credits or more. Preference is given to residents of New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam and Vancouver.

Youth in Care Bursary
The Justice Institute of BC (JIBC) offers a Tuition Bursary Program for eligible students who have grown up in government care.  The tuition bursary is intended to provide an opportunity to individuals who are underrepresented at the post-secondary level.

Aboriginal Learners

Minerva Foundation Award for Aboriginal Women

For Aboriginal women enrolled in or intended to enroll in, career oriented JIBC programs.

Marvin and Colette Storrow Bursary
Open to Aboriginal students enrolling in an individual course which may be applied towards a JIBC certificate, diploma or degree program.

Safetek Bursary
Open to Aboriginal students pursuing the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate program..

Community Care Licensing Officers

Community Care Licensing Officer Bursary
Offered to Community Care Licensing Officers in BC.

Conflict Resolution

Derm McNulty Courage to be Curious Award
Open to students planning to take CRES1100 or CRES1101

Ingrid Pipke Memorial Award
Open to Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD) students and Conflict Resolution Certificate students (Mediation, Negotiation or Family Mediation specialization).

Emergency Management

Bev Stenning Excellence in Emergency Management Memorial Award
Open to students enrolled and in good standing in the Emergency Management Certificate or the Emergency and Security Management diploma or degree programs.

BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Scholarship
For student currently enrolled in the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate.

Jocelyn Roberts Memorial Award
For women applying to or enrolled in the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate.

Irving K. Barber One World International Scholarship 
For graduates of the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate to travel to Central or South America to participate in a service-learning opportunity.

Karen Baker-MacGrotty Award 
For recent graduates of New Westminster Secondary intending to enroll, or enrolled, in a JIBC program of 10 credits or more.

Lohn Foundation Bursary
Open to students enrolled or in the process of applying to Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate (FFTC) programs or the Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD) program.

Safetek Bursary
Open to Aboriginal students pursuing the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate program.

Law Enforcement

BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Scholarship
For student currently enrolled in the JIBC Police Recruit Program.

Canadian Western Bank Award 
Offered to PCP and LESD students.

Ingrid Pipke Memorial Award

Open to Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD) students and Conflict Resolution Certificate students (Mediation, Negotiation or Family Mediation specialization).

Jim and Vicki Chu Legacy Award
Supports LESD  students participating in an international exchange opportunity such as Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) or another established JIBC International learning exchange experience. 

Karen Baker-MacGrotty Award
For recent graduates of New Westminster Secondary intending to enroll, or enrolled, in a JIBC program of 10 credits or more.

LESD International Exchange Scholarship
Supports LESD students participating in the academic exchange with Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) in Waterford, Ireland.

Lohn Foundation Bursary
Open to students enrolled or in the process of applying to the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate program or the Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD) program.

Mark and Tracey Schonfeld Award
For Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD) students or Bachelor of Law Enforcement Students (BLES).

Paramedicine

BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Scholarship
For student currently enrolled in the ACP and PCP programs.

Beverley and John Carl Award
Offered to PCP students.

Canadian Western Bank Award
Offered to PCP and LESD students.

Emergency Medical Assistant (EMA) Education Fund Award
For students enrolled in the PCP or ACP program.

Fallen Paramedic Tribute Award
For students enrolled in the JIBC Primary Care Paramedic, Advanced Care Paramedic programs and EMS Diploma.

Karen Baker-MacGrotty Award
For recent graduates of New Westminster Secondary intending to enroll, or enrolled, in a JIBC program of 10 credits or more.

Thomas St. Laurent Memorial Award
provides tuition support to students enrolled in the EMS Diploma, Primary Care Paramedicine (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedicine (ACP) Programs.

Tim Jones Memorial Award
Tim believed in the value of education, demonstrating a commitment to life-long learning. The Tim Jones Memorial Award provides tuition support to students enrolled in the Primary Care Paramedicine (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedicine (ACP) Programs.
